We recently visited one of the girls who lives out of town who LOVES houseplants. She actually has a gorgeous collection of them. And, she is so good at keeping them healthy looking and she treats them like they are her babies… like she does with her dogs. I have no clue where she got that talent because I swear to you, I have killed every houseplant that I have ever bought. There are supposedly certain rules to keep each one alive that I don’t follow. 🤣
We stopped at this cute plant shop and I was obsessed. You know that my colors are woods and whites and greens. Houseplants just looks so pretty with my style. As soon as we walked in, Deb said, “Don’t even get any ideas. You will kill them.” I usually forget that I have them. And, then I think, “Shit… I need to water my plants.” So, I dump an entire jug of water on them thinking that will help the situation and I basically drown them. So… faux is the way to go for me.
Since I am getting the house ready for Spring, I’m on the lookout for lots of plants to fill the spaces where I took out the winter greens. Remember my forest of trees? They added a lot of interest and texture. I did some online browsing and grabbed a few houseplants including a few large bird’s nest plants which add so much interest to my rooms.

I love my live plants but there’s a place in my life for faux. They just have to look real. These are all great finds, thanks for the share! I love you guys, keep doing what you’re doing!

Thanks so much!

I love ferns and they look amazing hanging on my porches from May through October. Once the weather changes, I’m looking for another home for them because it’s a pain in the neck to try to keep a Boston fern happy all winter! I know I’ve tried – life is waaaaay too short for that!
Oh, and the trick to not killing your plants is to not over-water them. Don’t water them because it’s Saturday, water them because they’re dry. And don’t let them sit in water – they’ll rot that way, too. I think small plants are best and grocery store plants, too, because they haven’t always had it that easy!!! They’re more forgiving.

That’s what I do.. I over water. And I heard watering from the bottom is the best method. I could probably handle that. LOL

I had the same problem with keeping live plants. But somehow now i’ve been able to keep both faux and live plants. I love them both!
I love your decor “white and wood” with a little green…. I use pale yellow & green and dark reds.

Lucky you. I swear I start out with good intentions and then forget about them. My daughter can keep LOTS of them alive. They are her babies.
